Score: 8.2 / 10

When Stellar Blade launched in 2024, it was a technically impressive action game held back by pacing issues in its second act and a story that prioritised spectacle over coherence. The Complete Edition addresses some of these criticisms while adding enough new content to justify a second look.

What's New

  • New Ark Zone: The Sunken Library — a 4-hour expansion with three new boss encounters
  • New Eve costumes and customisation options
  • 60fps performance mode with improved resolution on base PS5
  • New game plus with permadeath option
  • Photo mode expanded with 40 new filters

The Base Game

Stellar Blade's combat remains exceptional. The parry system is demanding but rewarding, the boss designs are among the most creative in any action game, and Eve's moveset grows in satisfying ways across the campaign.

The Expansion

The Sunken Library is the most focused content in the game — three connected areas, one overarching mystery, and a final boss that belongs in the series' top three encounters. It's worth the Complete Edition price alone.
