What Is Nightreign?
Elden Ring: Nightreign is a standalone expansion set in a parallel timeline where the Erdtree was consumed by a permanent eclipse. The world is darker, more hostile, and features entirely new legacy dungeons built specifically for this expansion.
New Features Shown
- Night Cycle System — the world shifts between day and night every 30 in-game minutes, with different enemies, loot tables, and weather at each phase
- The Nightborn — a new class of enemy that only appears during the night cycle and drops unique materials
- Collaborative Ashes — new Spirit Ashes designed specifically for co-op builds
- 5 new Legacy Dungeons — each larger than Stormveil Castle
Story Details
You play as a descendant of the Tarnished, searching for fragments of the shattered Elden Ring scattered across a new map region called the Veiled Reaches — a coastal area to the northwest of Limgrave that was previously referenced only in lore items.
