Back to WWII
Call of Duty 2026, officially titled Call of Duty: Vanguard — Liberation, takes the series back to 1944 Western Europe. The game launches on all major platforms on November 7, 2026.
Campaign
The campaign follows an international squad of four soldiers — an OSS operative, a Free French fighter, a British SAS commando, and a Polish resistance leader — during Operation Overlord and the subsequent liberation of France. The entire campaign can be played solo or in four-player co-op, a first for the mainline series.
New Engine
Built on a heavily upgraded IW 10 engine, the game features volumetric destruction (buildings collapse realistically), real-time global illumination, and what Infinity Ward is calling "authentic sound design" with recorded WWII-era weaponry.
Multiplayer
Multiplayer launches with 24 maps across three modes: Team Deathmatch, Domination, and the new Breakthrough mode — a 40v40 objective assault mode that bridges the gap between Battlefield scale and CoD speed.
Warzone France
The new Warzone map, set across occupied France, is described as 40% larger than Al Mazrah and features dynamic front-line objectives that shift the circle in real time.
